Keynote Speech 1:
“New ICT Waves and the 4th Industrial Revolution”
Dr. Sanghoon Lee, President, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI)

Abstract:
The overlapping ICT technological waves swallow every single little thing. In these new waves of ICT, the connectivity between human being and 'the Things' becomes dense and strengthen due to the development of IoT, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) based on big data and cloud systems. This wave comes along with the advent of hyper-augmented world through hyper-connectivity, super-intelligence and ultra-reality. In this circumstance, the returns of scale would be highly come true, which ultimately promotes the fourth industrial revolution.
By riding this new ICT wave, GAFA (Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon) and other digital giants are preparing for a new voyage towards the fourth industrial revolution. Furthermore, leading countries are pushing ahead this transformation by reinforcing their strengths.
Korea has been undergoing the extreme changes of social and economy systems and also makes her own strategies to overcome the forthcoming upheaval. ETRI has proposed Intelligent Digital Transformation (IDX) as a strategy to cope with the fourth industrial revolution by taking advantage of country’s technical strengths.

Biography:
Dr. Sanghoon Lee is a president of ETRI, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute in Daejeon, Korea. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University in 1978, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in systems engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, in 1982 and 1984, respectively. From 1984, Dr. Lee worked for Bell labs for seven years where his research activities are focused on broadband networks architecture. Dr. Lee worked at Korea Telecom (KT) from 1991, to set up the network architecture and actual deployment of Broadband networks in Korea. Working for 22 years in KT, he served several positions including, CTO, COO and the president of Global & Enterprise business group. Before joining ETRI in 2015, Dr. Lee worked as a professor of KAIST for 2 years. Dr. Lee is a member of National Academy of Engineering in Korea and a Fellow of IEEE.

Keynote Speech 2:
“The Future of the Connected World”
Mr. Patrick Johansson, President & CEO, Ericsson-LG

Abstract:
Networks are the fabric of the Networked Society, where the role of mobility and connectivity expands from serving a few basic use cases to transforming the future of every industry and society at large.
While blazingly fast radio technology is at the heart of 5G, the rest of the system is critical for delivering on the promises of 5G. As the leader in the full end-to-end 5G system, we deliver technology for the real world. Ericsson helps customers take advantage of all the technological advancements in 5G – from more bandwidth than ever, near-zero latency, and much greater density and speed – to a network that efficiently delivers on a diverse set of performance needs through network slicing, flexible deployment, and application optimized networks.
5G is a huge game-changer. There will be enormous gains in performance and capabilities between current technology and 5G. Changes are so drastic that entire industries will ask ‘How can I realize the promise of 5G technology?’ Industries will create new products and services based on the new capabilities of 5G. Operators will deliver higher value services, not just connectivity. And we are embracing our role in enabling the innovation to make all of this happen.

Biography:
Mr. Johansson joined Ericsson in 1997 and has since then held various management positions mainly in Finance across the group. Prior to being appointed to his current role he spent many years outside Sweden in positions such as VP & CFO Region India, CFO Market Unit Central Europe, based in Austria, CFO Nanjing Ericsson Panda, based in China and Head of Finance, HR & Administration in Ericsson Vietnam including VP & CFO Business Unit Radio in 2011. He is currently President & CEO of Ericsson-LG in Korea.

Plenary Session II: Keynote Speeches
10:30-11:30, October 20 (Thursday), 2016

Time Title Invited Speakers
10:30-11:30 Keynote Speech 3: “Vehicle Networking as a New Social Infrastructure” Dr. Yuji Inoue, Chairman, Toyota Info Technology Center, Japan
Keynote Speech 4: “"Global Demands and Standard on Enhanced Dependability in Wireless Networks for Automotive Industries -Highly Reliable and Secure Wireless IoT/M2M for Cars and Factory Automation-"” Dr. Ryuji Kohno, Professor, Yokohama National University, Japan

Keynote Speech 3:
“Vehicle Networking as a New Social Infrastructure”
Dr. Yuji Inoue, Chairman, Toyota Info Technology Center, Japan

Abstract:
ITS, Intelligent Transport System with 760 MHz wireless communication was launched in Japan last year as the first V2V & V2I, Vehicle to Vehicle & Vehicle to Infrastructure, system in the world. V2V allows new vehicles to avoid accidents such as rear-end collisions and ones at poor-outlook inter-sections. V2I (at traffic signals) was also introduced to notify drivers existence of pedestrians who are hidden behind big vehicles and to assist handicapped pedestrians by extending traffic light-length.
Automated driving and/or ADAS, Advanced Driving Assist System, will further renovate social infrastructures by its powerful wireless communications and information processing capability. Its capability will not be limited only to the mobility aspects but to new social activities. One of them will be IoT, Internet of Things, based society and industry supported by vehicles. Some examples will be explained in this address.

Biography:
Dr. Yuji Inoue was born in 1948 in Fukuoka, Japan. He received the B.E., M.E. and Ph.D degrees from Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan, in 1971, 1973 and 1986, respectively, and was made an Honorary Professor of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology in 1999. He joined NTT Laboratories in 1973 and served there for 34 years. After new business development in NTT Data, he was a board member of NTT in 5 years, 2001– 2006, as CTO and the head of NTT group’s R&D with 6000 researchers and engineers. He moved to The Telecommunication Technology Committee, TTC in 2007 as the President and CEO, then to Toyota Info technology Center Co. Ltd, as the Chairman of the Board. Keynote Speech 4:
“Global Demands and Standard on Enhanced Dependability in Wireless Networks for Automotive Industries -Highly Reliable and Secure Wireless IoT/M2M for Cars and Factory Automation-”
Dr. Ryuji Kohno, Professor, Yokohama National University, Japan

Abstract:
Demands of ultra high reliability, security and fault tolerancy, so-called dependability in wireless sensing and controlling networks for IoT/M2M in cars and factory manufacturing lines are drastically increasing in automotive and other industries as well as medical industry. To guarantee interconnectivity among devices and modules in a car and make global size of market, we have been contributing international standardization of enhanced dependability in wireless links for automotive industries in IEEE802.15 IG-DEP. Dependable technologies in physical and MAC layers of medical wireless body area network (WBAN) can be commonly applicable for internal, inter vehicle and factory automation networks. This talk may introduce activities of a new standard of enhanced dependability in wireless links for automotive industries; IEEE802.15 IG-DEP and its practical applications with global business model. Research and development of dependable remote sensing and controlling in IEICE academic study group may be also addressed.
